Five young people living in the “Pegasus Post” area are among a party of Canterbury teenage tennis players which is to tour New South Wales in May.
A team of 12 boys and four girls has been selected by a combined committee from the Canterbury Junior Lawn Tennis and the Canterbury Secondary Schools Associations.
The manager for the tour is the president of the Secondary Schools Association, Mr Morris Marshall, a teacher at Hagley High. Mr Marshall also lives in “Pegasus” territory. The team holds practice sessions at Wilding Park.
Leaving Christchurch for Sydney on May 7, the team will tour for two weeks in Australia. Fixtures include two “tests” against high schools in New South Wales and the state age and school championships at Rushcutters Bary.
