The Canterbury squash squad were fitness tested at Canterbury University in July 1979. They were also tested on a treadmill at The Princess Margaret Hospital, where players were hooked up by masks to measure oxygen levels under exercise load as the treadmill got steeper.
It was all cutting-edge for the squad at the time.
Attached are the results for one player, Barrie Matthews, but comparisons with other squad members for some areas, such as anaerobic power and aerobic power, were added by the University tester.
